List of terrorist incidents, 1999
This is a timeline of incidents in 1999 that have been labelled as "terrorism" and are not believed to have been carried out by a government or its forces (see state terrorism and state-sponsored terrorism).
- Pakistan, January 3: Gunmen open fire on Shi'a Muslims worshipping in an Islamabad mosque, killing 16 people and injuring 25.
- Turkey, March 4: A PKK suicide bomber detonates in Batman, wounding 4.[1]
- Turkey, a pair of bombs detonated in Istanbul on March 13 killing 13 and March 14 injuring 2.
- Sri Lanka, March 16: A LTTE suicide bomber detonates, killing 4.[1]
- Russia, March 19: A bomb was detonated in a crowded market in Vladikavkaz, North Ossetia-Alania killing 62 and injuring many.
- Turkey, March 28: A PPK suicide bomber, wounds 10.[1]
- United Kingdom, April: David Copeland's nail bomb attacks against ethnic minorities and gays in London kill three people and injure over 160.
- Turkey, April 8: A PPK suicide bomber, kills 2 and wounds 9.[1]
- Russia, April 26: An explosion inside an elevator at the Intourist hotel in Moscow injured eleven people.[2]
- Sri Lanka, May 29: A LTTE suicide bomber detonates killing Tamil leader and 2 others.[1]
- Turkey, June 5: A PPK suicide bomber detonates in Adana wounding 14.[1]
- France, June 18: The separatist Breton Revolutionary Army dynamites a tax office in Cintegabelle causing extensive damage. [3].
- Sri Lanka, July 29: LTTE suicide bomber kills Tamil lawander and wounds 7 people.[1]
- Colombia, July 30: A car bomb kills nine and injures 38 at a military base in Medellín. Authorities blame leftist guerrillas for the attack.[4]
- Sri Lanka, August 16: Two LTTE suicide boat bombers drove there explosive-laden gunboat into a sailors boat, killing 10 sailors.[1]
- Russia, August 31 – September 22: Russian Apartment Bombings kills about 300 people, leading Russia into Second Chechen War.
- Jordan, December: Jordanian authorities foil a plot to bomb US and Israeli tourists and pick up 28 suspects as part of the 2000 millennium attack plots
- Sri Lanka, September 2: A LTTE suicide bomber kills Tamil militia leader.[1]
- Colombia, November 12: Seven die and dozens are injured when a bomb explodes in Bogotá. No claim for responsibility is made.[5]
- Turkey, November 27: Troops kill PPK leader Haydar Alparsian.[1]

- United States, December 14: Ahmed Ressam is arrested on the United States-Canada border in Port Angeles, Washington; he confessed to planning to bomb the Los Angeles International Airport as part of the 2000 millennium attack plots
- Sri Lanka, December 18: A LTTE suicide bomber detonates at an election rally, killing 23 and injuring 100 more.[1]
- India, December 24: Indian Airlines Flight 814 from Kathmandu, Nepal, to Delhi is hijacked. One passenger is killed and some hostages are released. After negotiations between the Taliban and the Indian government, the last of the remaining hostages on board Flight 814 are released in exchange for release of three terrorists.
- Lebanon, December 30: A Hizballah suicide bomber wounds 12.[1]
- United States, December 31 An arson fire causes one million dollars in damage and destroys the fourth floor of Michigan State University's Agriculture Hall. In 2008 four people that the U.S. government claimed were Earth Liberation Front members were indicted for that incident.[6]
